Highfield Fishery

  • Age:
    Dug from October 2002 and opened in July 2003. The aerial photo is from before construction started. 
  • Description:
    Three lakes, one a 4 acre big carp water (Oak) with only 8 pegs well spaced and two mixed species water (Ash and Beech). They are still very sparse both in bankside, marginal and water vegetation. The complex is very open and has no trees. The water is very coloured and all pegs on the carp lake are flat timbered platforms large enough to erect a bivvy.
  • Facilities:
    Parking in spaces provided, hot food takeaway and toilet.
  • Access:
    Carp lake is very good for tackle trolleys and the other lakes are quite good although the pegs are down banks from the path.
  • Stocking:
    Ash is a mixed species water, Oak is a big carp water and Beech is a match carp water up stocked to 3lb.
  • Prices:
    £6 per day for Beech and Ash and £16 for 12hrs or £25 for 24hrs on the carp lake (carp lake by telephone booking only).
  • Restrictions:
    Oak - barbless hooks, unhooking mats to be used, only pellets bought on site to be used, no nuts, no alcohol, no fixed leads no tins, 15lb line minimum.
    Ash & Beech - barbless hooks only, maximum size 12, no floating baits, only pellets bought on site to be used, groundbait by cup or feeder only, all nets to be dipped, no trout pellets, no keepnets except matches, no fixed rigs, no nuts etc etc.
  • Directions:
    Follow the A585 from Poulton, over Shard Bridge and left at the mini roundabout and turn right into Marsh Lane. Follow this through the village until the road takes a sharp right turn and take a left turn into Ghants Lane. The fishery is about 200yds on the right.
